- Vocalist and Songwriter from Benin, West Africa.
Son of a contractor and a singer of traditional
music of Benin.
- Migrated to Ivory Coast and fine-tuned his vocal
style that is derivative of the traditional music
of Benin.
- Performed with several prominent groups in Ivory
Coast from 1983-90; most notably, AKANZA, NEW
FASHION, EBIOSSO and MENES PEACE.
- Departed for France where he enrolled at The
Modern School of Music at Grenoble where he
pursued his education in Piano, Musical Data
Processing and Music Theory.
- Between 1992-94, he was the vocalist for FALLAH
FIVE and POSITIVE STRUGGLE while making
residence in Grenoble.
- He assembles his own group in 1995 and releases
his first album, “Black or White Image of God”. The
response received was responsible for the
opportunities that arose that allowed him to tour
and perform throughout France with headliners
such as THE ABYSSINIANS, TOOTS and the MAYTALS,
CULTURE, THE SKATALITES, LKJ and others.
- In 1998, He releases his second album, “Passeport”,
which he promoted and sold 5000 copies by his own
resolve.
- In 1999, he was the subject of promotional
television music programs in France which secured
a stint of concert appearances in Switzerland. This
also resulted in his nomination and subsequent
procurement of Benin’s Golden Award for
outstanding reggae artist.
- At present, RASBAWA has signed with ISLAND KING
RECORDS who will promote and distribute his
newest project entitled “De Paris a Bohicon”. It is
scheduled for release in April 2006 and will be available for sale from the ISLAND KING RECORDS.com website.
